Blackcap's Song

Blackcap's Song

A Chapter by Dave Brown

The autumn soft breeze

Stirs a leaf still barely clinging

On a bare branch that parts a sun ray

Where a Blackcap is singing

A Doe with her offspring

Its last few days still in tow

Through the heavy tree line

Each carefully walk slow

Both stay well hidden

With the Buck out of rut

And at night seek out grassland

Or recent growth, in a clear cut

The beautiful Deer

Gentle but strong

Who better to listen to

That wee Blackcap’s Autumn song

I love that you depict different creatures appreciating each other "out there" -- even tho so many humans would probably walk by the magic without noticing or caring. Frankly, I don't follow birds much. I know what quail, hawk, pigeon, bluejay & woodpecker sound like, but I can't identify bird calls of the masses of small birds. Can you? Well, thank you for introducing me to blackcap (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

I think the other animals appreciate each other's songs more than we appreciate them. And that is very sad. We don't stop long enough to listen.

A moment in nature well captured. Sounds like the memory of one acquainted with nature, maybe an experienced hunter.
