A Potpourri

A Potpourri

A Chapter by Dave Brown

Funny things happen

When I fall asleep

Into my mind

Things tend to creep

They call them dreams

I get them each night

And most of the time

They are quite a delight

I can climb mountains

And drive speeding cars

I’ve flown in a space ship

Up to a Tim Hortons on Mars

And when there, I smoked

One hundred and twenty-six Cuban cigars

Sometimes I’m like Superman

And will never pause

After seeing the downtrodden

To champion their cause

I’ve swum in the deep sea

Avoiding been consumed by JAWS

Soaked up the hot sun

On a tropical spree

Where I rode through the pipeline

Just my surf board and me

Picked ripe coconuts

From a Palm tree

Or like a majestic Eagle

I’ve flown wide and free

Sipped nectar from flowers

Along side a fuzzy queen Bee

Across the wide plains

I’ve galloped upon my Pony

Truth is, I’m never quite sure

What it is that I’ll see

But It seems there’ll be no end

To my dreaming potpourri

And each night I start my slumber

I wonder where they’ll take me

Now I feel cheated, Dave. All I get is snippets of being seen naked in public and my teeth falling out.
