Kina Lazy

Kina Lazy

A Chapter by Dave Brown

Through a quiet wood I pass

Regarded by tall towering trees

Entertained by squirrel chitter chatter

Tickled by touch of light breeze

Where soggy, saturated soil subsides

As raucous rain and snow abate

Deciduous buds shyly peek an eye

Readying for Spring’s pending mandate

Capricious, crooked creeks cajoling

From still snow-covered peaks

Burbling, bubbling, gurgling, guggling

A hurrying horde of winter’s leaks

Fall’s leaves camingled with fir needles

Knitting a quilt work of forest freeway

Evergreen galoots with long-legged roots

Combine for a spring, nesting souffle

A tender twig cracks, then quiet

A silent Towhee shadow slips by

Sun’s warm bright filter’s down

An early Owl sends a hooty “Hi!”

March madness is my kind of crazy

Barbecues midst daffodil and daisy

As winter memories get more hazy

I’m getting ‘Enjoyin Sun” kina lazy

Why not get a little bit lazy? Give yourself a little break and enjoy the arrival of the new season. A feast here of alliteration and rhyme. I also enjoyed the walk Dave.

This is a natural delight. This poem reassures that nature is always in vogue especially during spring. Loved it.

that spring thing is a winner
Great poem Dave! Enjoyable use of poetic devices without seeming forced or unnatural, humor, beauty. Fun easy read. Timely as well - I just saw my first crocus here yesterday. Still waiting for the daffodils.

Added to my grocery list for my next visit to Writer's Supply & Ink Barrel I have added a pound of alliteration and a yard of onomatopoeia. Your fine poem has made me realize I am slap out. Far too many good pups to designate a "pick of the litter" line, but "Evergreen galoots with long-legged roots" is in the top three.
Thanks much for writing this and sharing it with we lesser mortals.
