Duck Difficulty

Duck Difficulty

A Chapter by Dave Brown

With the Duck’s intended

Inclination to’ard quacking

An early Spring cold

Instead had her hacking

With the hope that an Advil

Could go hacking tracking

And send dear Duck’s

Down through the intestine

It roamed amok

Looking, always lookin

For where hacking had struck

But not for a penny

Nor for a buck

Could Advil

Fix that Duck’s cluck

Finally, just as earlier

It should have aughter

Pleasant Spring weather

Warmed Winter’s cold water

That she could become

A happily, unhacked squatter

As she settled to produce

Both dear Son and Daughter

It must have been Advil. Definitely wasn't birth control.

Excellent! You quack me up. Ogden Nash would have been proud. :)

So it takes warm water to stop hacking and get cracking with a mate to produce some kids...yeah I guess so, don't know much about duck's behavior, except they poop a lot and make disturbing sounds, however they like to make love....Great!

dear Dave.. I had a little Duckling for Easter one year when I was forty years old.
My children who were ten and three years thought I was the Greatest. We named her
"Sweetie Heart". and kept her in a Baby play pen (discarded) but perfect for Sweetie Heart.
She spent time outside also. Sure enough as she matured... on the Eve of St, Patrick's Day, she laid a pale Green Egg. A few days later we used it in a Cake recipe. She liked to wander to the neighbor's Pond with larger Ducks who may have chased her Off. We never found her after that. I loved her... as the saying goes-- "God Love a Duck". truly, Pat

Thank you for the scenic tour of ducky guts. I'm dumbfounded. I need another cup of coffee to truly examine this poem, but then I'm afraid I might become tangled up in an appendix in there or something else weirdly explosive. When I was young, I found a duck egg on the shore of the lake where we lived & we had an incubator becuz we'd done chickens before & this duck actually hatched & became my extreme pal until some wildlife critter probably got her. We lost many pets becuz we let them run wild. I would probably be over-protective now. Maybe I don't really need any more caffeine (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie
