Danny's Car

Danny's Car

A Chapter by Dave Brown

Danny climbed into his car

To drive across town

But once more Danny’s car

Let Danny down

Last time that happens, he thought

With that unreliable old tank

From his top shelf

Danny snagged his piggy bank

Walked down to the dealership

Bought a brand-new Jeep

Even though the funny looking thing

Was far from being cheap

Just then skies darkened

The ground began to shake

And driving his stiffly sprung jeep

Gave him a bellyache

A quick U-turn to the dealership

And he took that stiff Jeep back

And instead got a really nice

Smooth riding Cadillac

Immediately, cost of fuel went up

The Caddy’s mileage was bloody awful

Finally, of all these different issues

Danny’d had a craw-full

He has since bought a friendly mule

Who understands most things he’s said

With things working out so well that

They even share a bunkbed

One-donkey-powered transportation--now that's an idea. I've heard that Donkey's are quite affectionate, so sleeping with one might work out just fine. About those hairy legs, though...and those hooves.

Quite true, hoof hacking could be horrific
Ha ha. You drew me in with the name Danny. My eldest grandson shares it, also the love of cars. He has to make do with second hand as he doesn't have mega bucks for a flash up market eye oggler. Have to say, the repairs are constant, the fuel charge high, but as of yet, no donkey. A fun write Dave. All the best to you.
