A Chapter by Dave Brown

A searching wind seeks crevasses

In the hidden reaches of your heart

Seeking scattered pockets of dead lichen

Then tearing them apart

Exposing secrets stored deep inside

Which you spread as night’s sinful art

Laying bare false lies you whispered

That crack and tear us apart

Like dry plaster splitting, falling

Like a sacred symbol ripped and torn

That merciless wind’s endless search

Tearing my heart with its relentless storm

But actually!!

What harm a few innocent cheats and lies

Compared to your scrumptious apple pies

No real damage done, pass the whip cream

Maybe the whole thing was just a bad dream
