Snake

Snake

Walking the trail while takin a break

I happened across a nine-foot bull snake

Lying in the sun just barely awake

Which had me quickly apply my foot brake

Seeing it had caused me some alarm

It assured it meant nobody no harm

Further responding with a charm to disarm

Explained it was from the neighboring farm

Saying, as it lay there in the buff

It was employed to catch rodents and stuff

For him, they were the greatest foodstuff

But for the moment he’d ate quite enough

With sun shinning he was just lyin back

Apparently of time, he’d kina lost track

Every so often his attack would go slack

Now to get back before getting employer flak

As he was about to return to the barnyard

He took from his wallet a new business card

In case I had unwanted rodents round the yard

And for convenience, he would take MasterCard

This is a great voyage of imagination! I love it! My habitat having enjoyed 3 rattlers this past week, I am very snake-oriented suddenly! I love that you acknowledge the necessary part snakes play in the ecosystem . . . I'll take snakes any day rather than being overrun by rodents. Snakes don't bother my garden & the rodents do! And your imagination blowout happens when your snake offers his services! Such a great spoof on all these scaredy-cats who grab the shovel (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie
