Hoarding

Hoarding

A Chapter by Dave Brown
"

"

The situation had become insane

When she couldn’t get back inside again

There was so much “stuff” behind the door

She couldn’t swing it open no more

It was the crashing sound that gave a clue

It was time something was needed to do

But very thought of losing even one treasure

Brought a symphony of sad displeasure

Although, heaven knows it was cold outside

The comforts of home were being denied

The neighbors were staring at her night attire

For her hoarded goods, she’d best find a buyer

Claud was the buyer in the telephone book

In his Kenworth Semi, he came for a look

What had been an issue, now became a delight

Because for each, it was love at first sight

Her in her night clothes and he in his truck

An affair started by a front door being stuck

But when he got it open, she slammed him inside

One more possession to which she’d not be denied

On the upside, she doesn't hoard animals. That trucker would still be floorboarding his rig if he'd had to spend a night in a room full of overflowing litter boxes.

Always a relief to find that silver lining
Hope you are enjoying your evening
That was cute. When my wife and I designed a house (She designed ; I complied) she asked me my thoughts.
I suggested a 300 square foot house with a 3000 square closet. I still think it's a good idea.

Sounds sensible to me, if not for just (her) shoes alone
I absolutely love this poem. The thought of finding love in a mess of chaos is beautiful.

What matters a house crammed .. read more
this is too funny, she added one more possession, no more room for her.
I guess trapping him inside is better than blocking him, or is it?

I sometimes watch the hoarders on t v show but it leaves me a bit depressed
It’s a real mental illness and they need psychological help which the show often provides but I wonder if the follow up care is there so they don’t re hoard once house is destashed
Glad you wrote the ending in made me laugh 😂 lol
