Reptilian Romance

Reptilian Romance

A Chapter by Dave Brown

Terry turtle and Tommy tit-mouse

Lived lives that were like a dream

Then, one day, crossing a bridge

Tommy was swept downstream

Terry turtle to save life and limb

Leapt into the turbulent water

Acting extremely concerned because

Tommy was to marry his daughter

Swept together over giant falls

To a great pool down below

Where Alfie alligator with his friendly smile

Cheerfully chomped them, so apropos

Terry’s shell was too tough to consume

But Tommy tit-mouse was totally toast

The best way to stop an unwanted marriage

Later, both Tommy and Alfie would boast

Teressa turtle married Alfie alligator

They long having eyes for each other

They now live in that pool of calm water

Even tho' Alfie had eaten her brother

Sad but a satire on unwanted marriages it seems. You are very clever and these funny characters pop out and make the story more complex, with this one eating this one's brother, etc. Really liked it. Any reality in this poem??? Best, B.

I think the heat is getting to you Dave!
Sad yet beautiful write.
wasn't it obvious that the whole marriage thing is unwanted? Poor Tommy..
P.S. does this poem serve any connotative meaning? I can't tell.
Thank you.

I think basically it suggests that if you are a tit-mouse best not too adore an alligator
