Pink Petticoats

Pink Petticoats

A Chapter by Dave Brown
"

👩

"

Huge seas were crashing down

On my frail sailing craft

Till I was swamped and sinking

Grabbing desperately for my life raft

Wrapped my wrists with a line

Somehow, we both stayed afloat

Opening my eyes when seas had settled

Looked up to see a pink petticoat

Take my hand, take my hand, yeah

The first lyrics from a song she sung

Each word a portent of new life

Breathed down deep into each lung

Together we travelled to distant isles

Filled with magic and mystery

Where there was peace through out

And harmony beneath the sea

As we entered our final port

She handed me a detailed invoice

For travelling expenses and the like

About paying up, I simply had no choice

With no money, I became her slave

And had almost expired whilst copin

Until one fortuitous day

She mistakenly left my cell door open

Escaping, I no longer go near the sea

And I stay well away from boats

Also I now live in constant fear

Of seeing any pink petticoats

I know there are many many good women out there and I have now learned to be much more aware.

Good rhyming, Dave. However, in all of the catalogues my wife constantly gets, I have yet to see a pink petticoat. G-strings are the order of the day now. Evolution isn't all bad.

Dave, you've got to be more careful with these pink petticoats! They're dangerous. Who wants to be a slave? and what were you doing without your allowance? (Just kidding)....Oh well, in life, there's always a lesson;
"learn to help yourself"!....and don't go near boats either. Stay dry!!!

it is messy B very messy!!
What a fun poem. Funny how little thoughts pop in the mind. Sounds like a funny story a newly divorced uncle would tell nephews on the dangers of marriage. :)

Thanks Cherrie
Ha, beware pink petticoats eh? What a lure they have and what a price to pay. You know your silliness is so refreshing Dave. Have a good Thursday. Beautiful weather here. Maybe boating later.

Enslaved! That's a steep price to pay for being pulled from the sea, don't you think? Sounds too much like marriage to me. "God told Abraham, now listen here Son, if ya see a pink petticoat, you better run!" Ha! Eat your heart out, Bob Dylan! Brilliantly silly, you is.

It is a price for sure but I understand it was softened somewhat by her being quite a looker!
