"Pre-summer"

"Pre-summer"

A Poem by Desert Knave
"

A little seasonal humor for Day 5 of National Poetry Month 2020

"

Such a bummer

it's pre-summer

and the ghastly sight

of my ghostly white

legs has returned

and eyes will be burned

and heads turned

and tummies churned

as I must resort

to wearing shorts

despite the danger

to friend and stranger

oh my god, Jim...you just painted a portrait of my dad...although, poor guy, he wouldn't tan no matter how long he was in the sun...and he wore shorts all the time...whitest legs, and he also wore colored socks...
his generation, what can i say. you gave me a memory and a smile here, thanks for that.

LOL here in South Florida we are tanned all year round just from walking to the car or the store. I have seen some ghostly white legs here though....scary as hell! :) Another cute write, Jim. Lydi**
