Entitled Masses

Entitled Masses

A Poem by Robert Trakofler (Bad Bunny)
"

Just a thing

"

__Entitled Masses__

Now I lay me down to sleep

The better angels gently weep

Always pray the night before

I prey upon my brother more

Should I die before I wake

Please tell my children not to ache

 These objects in thy reflection

Of superior complexion

Pray the lord my soul to take

Subjection of my sisters sake

Proper vessel of affection

Others deemed to be affliction

Should I live for other days

Stricture of scripture my display

Imams priests monks and vicars

Crack divine making fissures

I pray the lord to guide my ways

Suitable Slant my gospel sways

In this faith my guilt will lay

Begging breaches burning belay

Your last stanza is my first prayer every morning, And your second stanza... how much I try not to contemplate sneaks into my mind often.... even after years I still weep for my mom . Your ethereal requests are reflections of collective consciousness, dear Robert.

I love how you used the bedtime nursery rhyme feel of rhyme & rhythm to frame your caustic message. Since I cannot form words to express my disgust with your title group, I'm glad you are doing such a good job throwing down your unvarnished observations! Love the religious twists you play with, too (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

If ever there was a robert cryptonite it would be the entitled masses:)
dearest Robert... I think more and more of what
your poem conveys... it is in my heart and in my soul...
without delay to plan for that day in everything I do and say...
but never shall I be "so heaven bent... that I am no
earthly good." Amen... truly, Pat

oh my.... that was refreshingly wonderful:) thank you, thank you, thank you my mind is dancing:)
Last two lines of the first stanza really caught my eye, as did the last two lines of the fourth stanza.

Faith, no matter the deity, is what counts; all the rest, the bells and whistles, the arcane chiming and chanting, is just add on engineering.

Beccy.

smile I am at heart a dreamer dear Beccy:)

there is something deeply moving here & I think it is the sum total of the words you left for us.. I follow a Buddhist path but have fond recollections of listening to my younger siblings saying their prayers both morning and night......... Neville

What a prayer Bunny. "I prey upon my brother more". These days I dance with the spirits. Organised religion made me unhappy. I'm prepared to take my chances. An excellent write.

Love the way you have taken the classic Victorian children's night time prayer and welded on your own verses in keeping with the sentiment and with your usual use of word and phrase 'splicing'.

a bleak read indeed, Mr B, reminds me of the children's prayer in Mettalicas Enter Sandman, no bad thing, a touch of torment can be a cleansing thing
