Slightly Askew

Slightly Askew

A Poem by Robert Trakofler (Bad Bunny)

Slightly Askew

Been tilting on my axiom lately

First step out of bed

Has not been a giant leap for man kind

Precepts percolate

In my coffee pot petition my grinds

As I ambulate

Gravities weight pressing my strides design

One foot in substrate

The other placed in ethereal climb

An unsteady gate

The stretch steps saunter to scry divine line

I somnambulate

The motions movement to trace mark define

I love this poem! It is as if a person who just woke up in the morning is still caught up in his dream, therefore not focused on reality. Just like the moment when we first open our eyes in the morning. The coffee routine adds a touch of humour to this early reverie.

I wake up early, even if I slept late or if it's the weekend. Coffee is me and I am Coffee :). here with Your own personal style You paint that world between the two worlds of fully-waking and sleeping, the one that is watered by "Coffee" and through its sips the lights of inspirations ignited. the photo is very very lovely, now I wish someone could bring me that magical cup ☕️

As a coffee fanatic and the furthest thing from a morning person, I have a lot of appreciation for this poem! Love your language, Robert, and the care you've taken in expressing it. Really well-formed voice here. The image is cool too :)

Great image my talented friend! I so identify with your witty take on the reality of a hard wake-up in an unforgiving morning....AAAAAAHHH yeess-hot, merciful Coffee "percolates" us awake when we stand on the tenuous edge of 'awakeness'. Of course, it's always with one foot on the proverbial banana peel though! Wonderful cadence, rhyme, elegant and lyrical language from an early morning Bard. I love it hugely and happily share that cuppa with you.:))

Good morning Annette, I am having my first cup of coffee right now and smiling at your review:)
This is a great poem in your distinctive style. Sometimes your love of complex words can make a poem feel a little unwieldy to read but this one is well-balanced & it flows with enuf connective tissue between your well-chosen complex words, like thoughts really do flow (for most of us!) *wink! wink!* I love the artwork, the fact that you used this as an ad, & the way you are so whimsical like that. The word "axiom" in the first line is my favorite play on words & then lines 2 & 3 are just plain inventive & fun (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

A superb capture of the unconscious awareness of sleep-walking and your encounter with the unbidden objects in your drowse. Alas I have never had this experience of the tilt in my sleep, mostly because I totter wide awake.
