Inalienable

Inalienable

A Poem by Robert Trakofler
"

After watching a video of a group of peaceful protesters get attacked I was so disheartened I wrote this. Spoken word link in notes section. Thanks for reading and listening!!!

"

When they complete your sentences

Before you make a sound

When the slant bars your entrances

Stealing your stand of ground

This is the place

That hope isn’t found

So if you were born the wrong race

If your skin is more brown

Or if your gods not the true grace

It is much less profound

This is the space

That truth is unfound

So they think your passions misplaced

That your mind is unsound

Your proclivity flies in the face

Of the natural bounds

This is the base

Of hatreds propound

These the united states of ache

Your killing my heart, drowns

In the bleeds of the warm embrace

That this country was found

This is… the pace

Of passive confound

to our inalienables… fate

In the dreams that our fathers endowed

United States of Ache! ....How strongly you feel for others, my dear friend! Such true compassion finds its way into every line here. I think there's much hope for those less priviledged as long as there are people who think like you! Such a strong and emotionally moving poem this is!

It's a heart-rendering write, expressing the your heartfelt thoughts for less privileged and underappreciated. I'm so glad there are people out there like you who feel the compassion and heart to raise their voice for others. This is need of the hour. The world needs to talk in unison and get rid of boundaries of creed, race and religion. Humanity burns in the fire of rage and needless hate. We need common sense to prevail. Thank you for writing and sharing.

The difference between people like you & people like me . . . your heart breaks for the people being dissed & destroyed, whereas I'm deeply mourning as nature & the planet get destroyed. Different aspects of the same problem -- selfishness & greed. Your poem is very expressive & describes how unfair it feels when so many lump the looters all together with those who are trying to make a peaceful point. I guess the people part of the equation is so fraught with outrage, I can't even go near it . . . that's why I admire your courage in presenting your satirical point of view without such an acerbic edge (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

The world needs voices as yours to be heard, even though we breathe the same air which is "colorless" and drink the same water which is "colorless" and can't live without these "colorless" necessities, we still label ourselves based on color. Thank you for sharing this truth.

A bleeding country, a bleeding world. Negativity everywhere is just speeding up our destruction. We need more of the compassion and goodness that abounds in your words here. Well said sir.

Great! 😎
there will never be real peace as long as the instigators to violence have their way...
it is so sad...we need the voice of the protests, we need change...not the rogues committing this kind of violence.

A heartfelt and passionately painful defence of those who would stand up and be counted Robert. Told in a sensitive voice in your usual style of word weaving.
