Away TodayA Poem by Robert Trakofler![]() more about survival![]() Away Today Did you see the distant dying eyes Looking back as scenes roll by Of the times he smiled and cried Watched them go and fade away Like tiny pictures turning grey As my mind began to fray Away away away now The fragments milled about the sky Stealing my sight my how and why my sense of self, could not descry as the pain began to fade a resignation starts to play that I have seen my final day away away away now my heart still beats, upon the poetry like the prayer beads, of a old rosary in old planted seeds or in their future reads your love away away away away now you’re here to stay now the love surrounds you today today today I live now how I survived, I’ll never know of how the fragments recombined from my lifeless broken mind of how I breathe on borrowed time so I write these lines today I hope that in my humble way That I somehow can convey this grateful hearts display And I vow to share this grace Of all the beauty in this place In my gratitude’s embrace Away today away today now I’m here to stay now © 2022 Robert Trakofler © 2022 Robert TrakoflerAuthor's Note
