A sleepless Night.

Outside the window

the street light glows

casting shadows

in my room.

As time slowly flows,

thinking of you…
I feel you here and

my heart rejoices

to feel you near.

Night light dims

and

morning dawns.

Sleep slips in

beside me

to comfort my yawns!

The simplicity of this poem is deceptive. It portrays the simple missing of a person from within one’s room. However, I read greater depths into this poem. I see the room is a metaphor for one’s mind and looking outside there is a glow, but there are shadows this could tell the same story as the more literal, only taking it on a different level, but it may well portray the missing of something far deeper than just a person. I love the last lines. Sleep slips in beside me To comfort my yawns and “and the question becomes is it literal sleep or is it the sleeping of memories ? This is the most beautiful right Marie.
