The Coming

The Coming

A Poem by Gee
"

Silently it reaps

"
O'er bowed down yellow daffodils
through chiming blue bell seas,
'cross fields of gamboling new life
blows a chill, uneasy breeze.
That whispers of a coming
that has ne'er been seen before,
and will leave the streets deserted
as folk cower behind closed door.
For this coming will be misery,
will be heartache, sudden deaths
as it preys upon the elderly
reaping wantonly last breaths...

It’s so eerie that this pestilence will come to smite us, traveling over yellow daffodils, blue seas and golden meadows. And what it shall leave in its wake is death and devastation. It’s so profound, so disturbing! Door delivery of death! Wow!

Very well thanks Gee! Stay safe you and yours! ❤️
I really like this, the words like "o'er" and "ne'er" that you used really added a depth to the poem for me. I really enjoy your work, you're an extremely good writer.

You can't look anywhere now without being reminded of this plague. Offerings like this one, which don't mention it by name, but describe scenes caused by it, are more powerful than reports coming out of the media.

Thank you John
A piece that gathers the reader to take a hard look at what is right in front of us, stark and without apology, well done, good read.

Our world had changed. Old world is gone. Here in Michigan. No-one is working, the streets are quiet and the the schools are closed. Hard to say, where this shall end? Poor Europe, worst off than the USA. I am still working. I am a night manager of a Pharmacy. I hope I still work and my daughter is a nurse. Still working. All of us need to stay home, write, read and use the phone. I hope you are doing well. Maybe you can write the great novel?

I believe you can write the great novel. Good morning and you are welcome my friend.
it is much like a Stephen King novel...very much so.
But this is not fiction...and it is dangerous...
it is an eerie quiet...deserted streets, fields, stadiums...
your poem is a painting of what is happening with the virus.
and you have done it so well.

Thank the gods and flitting sunbeams you began with such beautiful words. Gee. We need and must remember what has always been and will come again because IT MUST. The tragedy of not knowing is a Damoclean sword felt world.wide, it hurts like hell. But, surely, please.. whilst accepting what else you have to say, we just have to wrap ourselves up in hope and more hope. hope. Bathe in the dawn perhaps! Prayers and little smiles flying to your lovely ladies and self.
