Yesteryear and the passing of time

Yesteryear and the passing of time

A Poem by Relic

Music brings back memories.

Every once in a while
I sit quietly
arms folded
and put on old songs
from teenage years
for an hour or two.

Zeppelin, Foreigner, eagles, boston,
bring back memories of old friends.

I see mike, rick and lori
as vividly
as if they were here.

Things we said,
how we stayed out late
and hanging together
in the graveyard
playing hide and seek
behind graves
plays out in my mind.

That's when the pain of getting older sets in,

these days they can't hide anymore

I find them each year
in the same cemetery

and leave flowers.

Music has time travel abilities in them for sure. The ending surprised me. It's not just that time changes but things tend to erase from the picture of our lives. Sad. Wonderfully explained and expressed. It kinda reminded me of the song Ribs By Lorde.

Thanks very much for the comment, Cyprian. I'll check out the song.
Funny how a song can carry us back,& in living color.

It is. Thanks, Cherrie.
It’s hard when our friends and loved ones are no longer on this earth with us. Music has a way of being back memories

I agree, PB. Thank you.
I can identify with this one. You know you're getting older when you scan the obituaries every AM looking for familiar names.
