Fiery Hate

Fiery Hate

A Poem by Miranda Olsen

hate has infected our country like a poison

Hatred burns through the country
Like gasoline
Ignited by a single spark
Then turned into roaring flames
This fire of hatred is all consuming
Destroying peace and tolerance
Burning love to smoldering ashes
They use religion as fuel
Claiming God's will covers their actions
Using God as a weapon to kill and maim
Blood is shed and he weeps
For his creations are destroying themselves
Like Cain and Abel, people are tearing themselves apart
We are no longer a people united
We are divided by this fiery hate
Its ashes and burnt remains reveal a line of separation
Some want peace, but others give in to hate
It seeps into them like poison in the air
The infected cannot be cured
It is in their blood now
Chaos reigns in the streets
Screams and wails pierce people's ears
Like Rome, this country is burning.
