Cheshire cat

Cheshire cat

A Poem by Kathleen Pastrana

The stars are nowhere to be seen
but the moon is grinning
like the Cheshire cat tonight
As if it knows an infinite amount
of little secrets that
none of us can decipher
Like where the specks got their brilliance from
and why in most instances
they choose the people they shine for
They seem to have business
somewhere else tonight
But did it ever occur to you
that whenever I look up and see the night sky
devoid of stars, perhaps obscured by
the weight of the clouds,
I am reminded of the love you are so willing to give
yet so reluctant to let the whole world know
And so I shall grin like the moon,
like the Cheshire cat, in a sky reflective of your love:
so vast and infinite yet it leaves me
feeling so
empty

I liked the lines below.
"And so I shall grin like the moon,
like the Cheshire cat, in a sky reflective of your love:"
You create good vision and tale. You left the reader with open ending. When love feel like a empty shell. There is no love. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.

some of us need to be reminded openly and on a regular basis that we are loved, even though we may sense it...when that love is not displayed to the whole world we feel 'cheated' in some way...
