Sylvia

Sylvia

A Poem by Jamila
"

A Prim Rose

"
Beneath the pastels
of Primrose
Hill
she bled the ink
from emotions
quill
black blots stillborn
on her Rorschach
spill
agonies charred
on to poesies
grill
till she lit the fuse
of finality
and
all
was
still.

Becuz of the name "Sylvia" I start out reading this as a tribute to poet Sylvia Plath (her demise similar to what's written), but I don't see this poem as being that (suicide). Since your descriptions seem to address what's going on on the inside, more than on the outside, this feels like it could be about the suicide of one's inner poetic life, such as with those poets who are terminally down on their own writing & not believing in their creativity, prefacing everything they post here with a self-put-down to make sure we all know for sure that this is lousy writing. I love your sophisticated rhyme & rhythm (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

A troubled soul whose poetry put words into pictures.
Greatness never really leaves when the poet dies.

Literally, yes. Thanx for stopping by, dear Dave.:)
Very nicely rhymed, concise and perceptive. The picture it gives of Plath seems on the money.

Thanx for your words and appreciation, John. :)
The brevity of this piece is what makes it shine for me. You've captured her so well, so immeasurably!

A tortured soul who tried to cook her head, well, not really. Tis a selfish act suicide, but what a dark place must you be in to see it through.
