![]() A Dove In a DreamA Poem by Karoline Lesande
Remember holding hands by the Sea of Galilee,
or the time we kissed near the bent olive tree. How the sun warmed our faces and the sand burned our toes, we explored many places, I waited for you to propose. When the plants, books and plates had finally found their place, we were dancing in the moonlight, then you gently touched my face. What we shared that moment was incomparable and rare, I got shivers from my toes to my messy bed hair. From the worn out window I gazed at the rising sun, felt thankful and dazed that I had finally found "the one". Right then outside the window, I saw a laughing dove, she looked at me agreeably, she also was in love. Her beloved came, they flew away above the acacia trees, I thought to myself it has always been about the birds and bees. I know my love will stay right here and fly beside me, but nothing lasts, none of us are promised infinity. So let me hold my head a little longer on your chest, I must memorize your heartbeat until it's time for our last rest.
