Curtain of Stars

Curtain of Stars

A Poem by Brittany Zedalis
"

surrounded by the billions of stars that light up the sky, contemplating life.

"

my footsteps echo through the cavern,

the ice shines and sparkles, my

breath condenses into white mist, while

I slowly emerge from darkness,

thrown into a vortex of lights and shooting stars,

alone, but not completely, for the sky

itself is a companion, with billions of luminous spheres

and unforeseen worlds, blink and you might

miss it, it is here I'm reminded of

the immensity that is our world, here

in this frozen wasteland, gazing up at

the curtain of stars

Haven't I heard that last line somewhere "The curtain of stars" and thought 'the shroud of the stars' if so, I like how you have used it to change both the meaning and the sound. Your poetry reads and sounds like the sort of stuff a publisher would go for. Thanks for sharing I enjoyed immensely. Is there a way we can shut off the music before the poetry starts?

I do too, sometimes. Thank you!
This provides great atmosphere, almost ominous in its infinite, archaic mystery. Well done.

I really enjoy this poem. I like how you brought us to the knowledge of the expanse of the Universe. But I have to admit, it's killing me, not being able to work out exactly what the cavern is.

The curse of being a slow old man.

when I wrote this I meant it literally as a cavern. It wasn't symbolic or anything. Literally an ice.. read more
