Lost But Happy

Lost But Happy

A Poem by Mairwen

It is comforting for me to feel
as if I am wrapped in silence.
Not the cold hard silence of vacant expressions
of empty smiles
and of empty confessions,
but the chosen peace of mind,
the delicate feeling of alone.
I contemplate tomorrow,
the incomprehensible dread slowly gripping my chest
with each second.
Alone we escape,
in the night we can breathe,
yet when the dawn breaks,
the phantoms won't leave
