Caliber

Caliber

A Poem by Sami Vish

How do I digest
Outwardly manifest
These feelings circling?
Didn’t know I was having
Jealously is a new one for me
That's what he called it,
But that's not what this is, right?
How could this be jealousy,
I thought she was dead to me
Did I cause this
When I saw his spark
And picked up a hand grenade?
When I saw the wool over her eyes
And tore it off?
Yes
This was as much my fault
As all of their’s
Selfish!
Jealousy? No
Empathy? Definitely no
Disappointment? Ding ding
Winner winner chicken dinner
I expected more from her
I expected more from him
I expected a lie
This is all for show
A cry for help
How could you be happy and in love
When you're not?
So fake!
How could I have stooped so low?
You see yourself as the hero of your story
They are the damsels and you are the prince
You’re wrong
You are the rich man
And they are the thieves who've come to rob your castle
Nothing about this is a fairytale
Or will end ”Happily ever after....”
This is going to blow up in your face
And as much as I don't want to
I care for you.
So yes, I will be there to catch you,
But you’ll have to heal yourself
