Scarecrow

and life goes on...

I stumbled upon a scarecrow
long murdered by some crows
missing his straw intestines
one eye, a mouth and nose -

stalked arms in helpless cradle
lying fetal on his side
in piles of shredded mulch
and sennit tears that he had cried -

whilst overhead the snobbish clouds
proudly puffed and elitist white
cast not a single sideways drift
at the mangled scene in sight -

and I felt my heart skip just a beat
and drum an arrhythmic sigh
as Gaia wearing her callous crown
did revolve on regally by.

awwwwwww poor scarecrow!! i feel his lonely heap .. nice work with the story and imaging .. i could see it all .. especially think the personifications of the clouds are creative and unique .. lending a sinister mood to them and to the goddess Gaia is surprising .. you are using quatrains and a varied rhyme scheme and count that is contrary to strict rhyme and rhythm ...kind of what Emily Dickenson did to the Hymn form which made her known as one of the first to move poetry toward "Modernism" ...

I too wrote a poem about a scarecrow but I could never get it right. You're a talented writer. I'm impressed with this poem and your ability to tell a story in rhyme. That's not always easy to do.

I find this write really interesting....I love the idea of "sennit tears" streaming down the scarecrow's face. I like how you describe it as if it were a horror show, and the personification of the scarecrow. Overall, this is a very smart write. You did a really good job.

I really like this poem...it does a dance like ballet, but a bit more violent.
A murder of crows attacks...felt Hitchcock revived in this...
love the ending as well.
An ex of mine did ballet and I loved watching her troupe practice the dance...I got to see the process, just as we have our process with writing.
