Tea and Sympathy

Tea and Sympathy

A Poem by barleygirl
"

inspired by Jacob . . .

"

Never knew the pleasure of your sympathy
but your parade of pathetic fillies is so like me
you brushed their strands of sorrow tenderly
as they forked and fed your lovelorn poetry.

Fantasies flow from the mere marvel of your face
idyllic fibs float beyond your concerned embrace
while canoodling your neck I misplaced my suitcase
far too flighty to be a premeditated coup de grace.

In time long yawns huffed your healing expertise
that old need to be needed starts to feel like a wheeze
steady pain-appease becomes more of a squeeze
nice tea and sympathy but I’m craving a trapeze.

Looming over my badgered body with a crucifix
that curative felt like acupuncture using chopsticks
stifling pity parties that broke more than was fixed
missing unfussy romps and open space for my kicks.

Sometimes unbroke fillies don’t want to be tame
you felt that I used you and I accept some blame
to use and abuse you was not an intentional game
I did need your warmth but then I craved the flame.

this poem is a smile...yes, the speaker is not going to fit some mold in order to succeed in love or life...
unbroke filly....she is...and my heartbreak poetry...the subject is far from resembling you, Margie...
you are too unselfish and loving...even if you don't see that.
oh one ex accepted that blame...but i never felt used...i knew what i was getting into...and we are still really good friends....i hope you find your suitcase---:))))

It is not your fault Margie, that things did not turn out to be the way you may have hoped. We each take a risk when we are getting to know someone knew. Perhaps we might be guilty of expecting something from them that they are unable or unwilling to give. We learn this through time. Don't blame yourself, I can't imagine that you would ever intentionally hurt anyone, and you shouldn't feel guilty for needing something that someone wasn't able to give to you. I enjoyed this a lot. It made me reflect on some of my own similar situations. Thanks for sharing this.

The above lines are true for many. Some people are not ready to settle. Thank you my friend for sharing the interesting tale.

These words made me feel happy sad... I dunno why I'm just saying... actually I think it may have something to do with the fact these words read like two co-existing poems if ever there was such a thing..

Jeez now I need to go and read them both again to make sure I said what I meant .. or meant what I said .... I know what I mean...........

I love when another writer's voice/ style churn around in our thoughts till something completely unique is created, I think this type of work is a surprise to everyone, even the writer.
Really a great piece.

We peer into the misted mirror of the poet’s words..and see ourselves..yes. This is the other side of the coin, written to be from the woman on he other side of Jacob’s heartbreak. An paradoxical pairing in poetry. “Sometimes unbroke fillies don’t want to be tame”..so true of you Sisterfriend. I think you and J are prime foils for writing poetic duets! Love the thought of that!

This writing left me silent for a while, before I can proceed to say something.
And all I was left with to say is, " This Margie is always unique."
