Mornings Still

Mornings Still

A Poem by barleygirl
"

photo: yes, that itchy red menace is poison oak . . .

"

Mornings still arouse my appetite
ripe persimmons a luscious bite
staccato shadows dance despite
shy November’s muted light
eluding the stain of human blight
daily undone by God’s invite.

Mornings still evolve enchanted
sparkles shoot the gorge back-slanted
itchy red menace perky as planted
ancient whispers and secrets chanted
endless sips of harmony decanted
crawdad crawls so blue jay ranted.

Mornings still muster a silly smile
forgetting troubles like I went senile
chomping my celery wild bunnies beguile
teaching me the power of being versatile
so even a troubled trail feels worthwhile
as long as I sashay with grace and style.

this is kinna cute. Competing with the bunnies and a reminder that our Jays have been hanging around longer than usual this year
Had to ask my wife what a persimmons was. Thought it might have been a modified mattress

I love the ending. Starting the day with full of positivity and forget what troubles you yesterday and you just show that no matter what life throws at you, YOU just strut and slay what you are up to. :)

The speed at which this flows just shows how fast time goes. The short sharp end rhymes really pack a punch in delivery.

great stuff. we must seize the day - it is ours. i like how you innocently observe and recognize a new day. the last two lines you slip in powerfully say a lot. this feels like scattered thoughts as we stretch and wipe the sleep from our eyes as awake to a new day. starting the day with a smile is key - sets the tone. one of my favorite. can do without the poison oak though ... :)

love this line:
daily undone by God’s invite.

Take me wherever you live. There is nothing enchanted about living in the North and dealing with 8 degree weather in the beginning of November! Good imagery and good use of romanticism. The rhyming scheme was a bit too much for me, but that is only a preference issue. Do not worry about that! Keep up the good writing!

Always a good idea to stay positive Margie, and if you can wake and see the beauty of nature and how life continues unabated as we slumber, then youre doing something right. You are also not here, where November isnt so much shy, as much reclusive, anti social and up to no good. All i can say is, thanks to the bid beardy made up guy who lives in the clouds and watches everyone playin with themselves, for central heating. I swear ive began to clink when i walk, but on the plus side, there is nothing better at letting you know youre alive than taking your coffee for a walk of a morn and watching the sun piss into the wind, trying to break through the clouds. (its still called the sun, right? Its been so long since i saw her that im beginning to wonder if we dated once)
Now if youll excuse me, i need to go and strategically place a hot water bottle where no hot water bottle was meant to dwell.
Ps... Who can deny the bunnies a little celery? It saves you adding veg when you throw them in the pot 😀

You do do that Margie. This had a marvelous lilt of life and observation. Mornings are rarely observed with such a keen eye, and enjoyed to their fullest even less. You bring home a grand feeling in this one. Loved it!
