A Poem by alienated.aquarius

how i feel when i perform my poetry

I feel embarrassed reading my work

When everyone else’s sounds different,

Like I showed up to baseball tryouts

In hockey gear.

Be proud to be who u are ..unique and beautiful as you are..🌹

Your unique poetic voice is what matters. Without our differences the monotony would be cruel.

Oooooh, I love this. Maybe you showed up in hockey gear, but this sport of writing takes all sorts of players.. and you're definitely a star. :) Wonderful short poem!

i friended you because you're different, and you're pretty f*****g amazing, and i don't even know you and i can tell this. if your work sounds different it's because it's better. good s**t. keep writing, please!!!

Mistitled. Humility is freedom from pride. It is not showing up at school in pajamas and feeling embarrassed, out of place. It is accepting the Nobel Prize in your pajamas feeling sure your work really isn’t as earth shattering as the selection committee seems to think.

That said, the rest is good. I really liked the baseball in hockey gear vision. It’s effective humor and sounds fresh to me.

I connect with this poem a lot. People are always trying to fit in and they're always feeling out of place. It's how the world goes round. But why try to be someone you're not? you are who you are for a reason

Your idea of humility seems far from how I might define it, but I love your honest admission with a striking metaphor. I consider it a badge of honor that I don't write or sound or look or act like anyone else. I can hardly believe that someone with such a powerfully unique viewpoint (YOU!) would give a whit about fitting in to a group of anybodies! (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

Now THIS is gifted... Many people mistakenly think rhyming, word-use, syllable count and meter are all "the" showcases of skill in poetry... Not always so, and in this case, definitely not so.. Bang-up job, out of the box and to the point. Letter for letter heavier than most sonnets.. I always feel like I brought figure skates to a roller derby, myself..

I feel the same way, I like the way you put it, made it funny even though it's serious
