AUTUMN HAUNTS THE AIR

AUTUMN HAUNTS THE AIR

A Poem by An owl on the moon
"

Coxcomb red her hair...

"

Coxcomb red her hair, viper black her eyes

Over fields of lace I hear her lullabies

Lavender dreams of the gossamer streams

Lying in a mist of nothing it seems

Ever a numbness as leaves pass the day

Ever a fragrance of autumn’s display

Now fighting the future, I beg you to stay

Our senses trap us in the seasons, sometimes sadly. Loss seems to replay and torment us when the season is upon us. Fall and winter are the worst, perhaps. The symbolism of loss, transitions to gray, are what come to me as a I read this one. An original work of art in words and images.

As often you catch both the beauty and sadness of love: the urgent need of a special time with a special person. Plus, memories intact, but... somehow.. slipping away. How the colour wheel remains your closest ally, Owl - whatever the season.

Autumn... wet or dry... certainly counts as glorious... every drop of it. :)
dear Craig... your poem is a reflection of the
Autumn days of a life well spent... leaving
colors of weathered days of discontent ...
knowing we are the dreamers that build the future.
"Over fields of lace I hear her lullabies" is a symbol of
expressing the struggles she has endured... and
the coming of November and Thanksgiving. truly, Pat

So happy to have you here, Pryde. Happy October! :)
I love this piece because it is a begging for two things...for a love to stay, but also for a summer to stay, even when the autumn is so beautiful...
but when people are in their autumn...they are approaching a death...a winter.
really like the rhyme scheme as well...fluidity in the writing.
