Happy Dance on Broken Legs

Happy Dance on Broken Legs

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

Happy Dance on Broken Legs

in the rain forest

a spider monkey skedaddles

while a drop of moisture rises

a leaf is battered

by pouring potpourri

of glistening tears

heartbreak is the dawn's early dew

dart frogs live up to their name

frequently scurry

for cover

but they feel it too

in the mist

of what they missed

what we all missed

when the sun interfered

and dried up our mourning.

The nature imagery here makes this one very effective. Also liked the use of similar sounding words to make a point. A good message too; in the end, the sun expels our "mourning."

thank you for your kind review, John,
j.
This is astonishingly close to describing my mornings. I can walk unassisted for a couple hours each morning, puttering in my garden, almost forgetting I'm lame while taking in all the living sights & delights. As the heat comes on (typically 100* by noon), my legs are in too much pain to continue and the wheelchair is my conveyance for the afternoon (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

The beauty in what is missed or not seen but rather imagined. I am always up to catch the dew(from afar), a time when nature and enjoy nature without the interference of mankind. I am truly enjoying your creative writes today. Simply beautiful poetry.
