A Poem by Kiera Scanlon

Nothing left to do,
Plead, cry, and bleed,
Which is something,
That wasn't meant for me.

I hear voices,

There's no turning back,
They take my life just like that,
The voices win,
And I struggle,
All because,

I hear voices,

After many empty years,
And a silenced mind
Running on auto,
Now, i'ts my time.

I hear voices,
No more.

Voices are a pain in the butt. They bother, tease, and more often than not, mislead. What makes it worse is they chatter all the time giving no peace and quiet. Maybe you have discovered this too,but I found that wrting about them, exposing them to the whole world, exposing them to the light of day so all can see their stupidity, shuts them up at least for awhile. I liked your poem Kiera, simply yet poetically expressed. ~~redzone

We all have those voices, some needed, some we would love to drown and shed from our lives. A bit dark but something we all feel throughout our lives - writers get it and often share like this one. I have a few voices that I would love to rid myself of, but if all the voices went silent I would be quite scared as I feel I know my own dark corners of my mind and what might wake from the silence.

Thank you for sharing.

There is such an agonizing darkness here, and more so because I remember those voices... the calling to the shadows without substance that take one to the edge... Powerful and sad...

I like the contrast in this poem, and the overwhelming sense of loss of control. It's great!
