Cut My Suspending Nerves

Cut My Suspending Nerves

A Poem by Christopher Chambers
"

Wanted to write about feelings I've experienced on the rollercoaster, so here's some confessional poetry about the taboo of despair I feel.

"
The pit in my stomach forms fast
The foundation collapses
I'm left to my devices
They own me.

I long to sleep in the arms of the reaper,
Yet his sickle flattens upon my side
I long to sleep,
Yet insomnia possesses me.
It owns me.

Feet are so tired
Head hangs heavy
Heart sweeps the gutters
O' HOW I LONG TO SLEEP!
The soft light it does keep
Me...bound within runoff tears.

I'm lone as a star on a cloudy night.
Alone together
Barely together.
The sinews of unity
Disperse.
Let me sleep...
Please...

Insomnia is a curse, I know because I have suffered from it for years. It is exhausting, and still you can't sleep. Some nights are worse than others. I can relate well to this poem and the feelings of isolation and despair that come with it. There are many who suffer the same.
