my dead body sits in a freezer all day

my dead body sits in a freezer all day

A Poem by syndi

my dead body sits in a freezer all day

close enough to hear the breathing bodies outside the door

it does not sleep

nor does the heart beat, the lungs do not move

it lets whatever happens outside or inside of it happen

while it listens

my dead body tries to cry tears but is too frozen to move

to move anywhere

my dead body is always uncomfortable

my dead body stares at the ceiling

wearing blue striped underwear

it cannot do anything else

my dead body hears a voice outside the door.

my dead body had never said start,

my dead body had never said stop,

now it grows icicles on its fingertips and cannot say either,

it cannot even sing

a song that is stuck in its non-functional brain

it will be under my pale skin,

my widened and blank, dead eyes

and i'll listen to it on repeat

because that’s pretty much all i can do

Oh, I like this, it's the person in the inside freezing to get out.
It could even be a coma situation, listening to people who don't realise you can hear them.
At one point the blue striped underwear put me in the Jewish death camps, but I think I'm off the mark.
Great poem.
