My Modest Muse

My Modest Muse

A Poem by VALORMORE DE PLUME
"

My relationship with the muse.

"

My Modest Muse

Colors, drip from my pen,

flavors of times, old and new.

Places of the heart, where I’ve been,

dance casually into your view.

~*~

You hold them a while, in your hand,

as you dance beside me in that land.

You curtsy and smile, when we’re done.

I enjoy your embrace, long after the fun.

~*~

Your essence, I hold as a treasure.

To me, by every means to measure,

you give more than you take of the pleasure.

~*~

This captures what every writer knows to be true. Our muse allows us the benefit of her company, often long hours, and asks for little, except truth and sincerity. Treasure, indeed, and pleasure too. Exceptional poem with perfect title.

Thank you for reading R. E. Ray. Your comments on this piece are greatly appreciated.
as often as i get aggravated with the muse...for coming and going when she pleases...and literally just taking over during her visits...i do feel i get much more from her than she gets from me
so your words hit home, Valormore.
