About Me

I am a teacher looking to expand his students' world and, as always, my own in the process.

I would have liked to take more time to familiarize myself with the site before enrolling, but it has come to my attention that my name has already been signed and slandered by someone else on the site during a comment to a fellow writer, and I hope that by being officially signed in, I can put an end to this type of regrettable situation. To anyone else who has received a false critique under my name, my apologies. And to those few who have received my true critiques, and to those who will be receiving them soon, thank you for the opportunity to view the modern writer in action.

Ron

Ever listen to Mozart? He would take pieces from other musicians and make new compositions out of them. The Beatles did it, too. And most every hip-hop producer.

And since we're talking about writing, Ezra Pound's Cantos, T.S. Eliot's The Waste Land, and James Joyce's Ulysses are all under this umbrella. Marcel Duchamp and, well, any of the dadaists. There's a whole school of poets that make poems out of spam e-mails and Google searches.

The use of another's words is as natural as breathing, and with the incredible influx of information we receive these days thanks to the internet, I'm just doing what many other humans do naturally. And I do it fantastically.

A texts unity lies not in its origins, but in its destination. - Roland Barthes

Maybe there's an irony in that YOU'RE supposed to be the teacher.
