"I have a load of read requests": tell people that you tend to reciprocate, and won't review them more than once until they start reviewing you in return.

Just rid yourself of the hangers-on who think that a 'friend' = someone who will review them robotically.

Also, if someone's work is so poor there is literally nothing to enjoy when reviewing them, defriend 'em. I've never had anyone get back to me to ask me why I did this -- these people make so many friend requests they can't remember who they are friends with!

I'm hovering over reviewing "Tales Of Norþanhymbra" -- just finishing a rough week of work in order to have some leisure time to do so. Hope you're getting enough feedback to continue writing in the mean time.
