I would like you to write me a story based on The Shortest Short Story Ever Written. It goes like this "The last man on Earth sat in his room. There was a knock on the door." Your story must start with this sentence.

I want it to be thrilling in every way, but, no longer than about 400 words or I will not be reading it. I find that I don't have much time and can only spend so long on a contest, but I expect you to spend a lot of time on this story contest, unfair? Yes, so it goes.
