The Beat Generation  February 17, 2012 - April 17, 2012

Appropriately for a free speech writers website, I want to create a contest on honor of the "Beatniks." If you aren't' sure who they are (gasp) then search the poems "Howl and other peoms" By Allen Ginsberg and "On the Road" by Jack Kerouac.

The Beats were a rebellious, brazen group of guys who helped diminish the line that had defined what and how a writer should write. They were rebellious, individualistic and honest and I happen to be a huge fan. Another poem to examine is "America" by Allen Ginsberg if not the other two I have recommended above.

Cannot wait to see what this group has inspired within all you creative minds. Have fun!
