I'm sure everyone's heard of the Mysteries of Harry Burdick by Chris Van Allsburg. I'd like you guys to submit any story or poem that reflect any one of these pieces of artwork and include the captions that go with them.

He swung his lantern three times and slowly the schooner appeared.

Captain Tory

She knew it was time to send them back. The caterpillars softly wiggled in her hand, spelling out "goodbye".

Oscar and Alphonse

The fifth one ended up in France.

The Seven Chairs

She lowered the knife and it grew even brighter.

Just Dessert

So it's true he thought, it's really true.

The Harp

Even with her mighty engines in reverse, the ocean liner was pulled further and further into the canal.

Missing in Venice

Two weeks passed and it happened again.

Under the Rug

His heart was pounding. He was sure he'd seen the doorknob turn.

Uninvited Guests

tiny voice asked, "Is he the one?"

Archie Smith, boy wonder

If there was an answer, he'd find it there.

Another Time, Another Place

It was a perfect lift-off.

The House on Maple Street

He had warned her about the book. Now it was too late.

Mr. Linden's Library

He threw with all his might, but the third stone came skipping back.

A Strange Day in July

It all began when someone left the window open.
