story - opening chapter!  August 2, 2010 - August 31, 2010

It can be about anything, all I'm looking for is an opening chapter to a story. It needs to have a sense of the story without giving away the whole plot.
tip - original idea, imaginative, evocative and thought provoking are all qualities it should have. it should trigger the imagination.
there is 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 3 honorable mentions. the honorable mentions are in no particular order.
*NOTE* I'm not using the ideas for my own story, as some people seemed to think. If I write a story, it's gonna be my own idea. This is merely a contest.
