Coming up with ideas

Coming up with ideas

A Lesson by Dominik D. Ravens
"

Writing about something dark can take some creativity, so how exactly can you make your writing unique to the reader?

"

Although coming up with ideas in general is very difficult, a lot of writing is based off of or is entirely about the dark things in life, so what does it take to achieve uniqueness? It starts with understanding what exactly you are writing about. If you're about to write something deep and important, then you need to know what you're talking about. Think about the worst thing that has ever happened to you and try to relate it to what you want to write about.

If you can't find a direct link, then try thinking of something similar that you've witnessed or experienced in your life that may help you develop a more broad understanding of the subject at hand. Once you have developed a proper understanding, try to remember details and interpret them through words.

Think of a situation that you may have experienced in the past and tweak it as you go along to make it more and more unique from what you may have read or heard from others. Your experiences are unique, but be sure that your readers can still hold onto at least some understanding of this experience that you are describing.
