About Me

Kitaka, in Swahili, means 'Earth Goddess'. It was a given name to me when I lived in Ghana (doesn't traditionally speak Swahili). I've used it as a writing handle ever since.

I typically write literary fiction or women's fiction. This project I'm working on encompasses both. It's a social issues piece, and I'm very passionate about it.

For details about my writing, visit the site's internal blog posts. It's a policy of mine to not share any of my writing until after I've finished an entire project and edited it myself. (It's one of my things.)

Other things you may want to know about me:
*I have a beautiful one year old.
*I have degrees in psychology and English literature.
*I've been a storyteller since I could talk. I've written since I could hold a crayon. And I've been penning novels since I was nine. (My first was a rip-off of Goosebumps. Remember that series by R.L. Stine?)
*I am going back to school to get a Master's in Education and get endorsements to teach in the subjects of English/Language Arts and Biology/General Sciences.
*Right now I'm a receptionist at a tax accounting firm. I don't like tax, accounting, or numbers. But the people are nice.
