God Bless His Soul

God Bless His Soul

A Poem by Rose Black
"

His eyes twinkled When he recalled The events of “Oh, you know that war?” That war. Which he never even fought. God bless his soul.

"

His eyes twinkled

When he recalled

The events of

“Oh, you know that war?”

That war.

Which he never even fought.

God bless his soul.

He didn’t believe in religion,

Or horror stories.

I guess they were too

Interchangeable.

To him, of course.

I spit random facts,

Anything,

Everything,

To get him off course.

His whiskey held up,

It gave him strength,

Courage,

Which I’m sure

He must have had at one point.

Only now,

There were stories

Which may or may not

Have been his.

Opinions which

May or may not

Have been rightfully enforced.

And last but not least,

Jack Daniels.

Which may or may not

Be good for his soul.

Stories are great, true or not I like to listen. A nice piece of work, a good read.
