The Wings of Friendship

A poem about how a friend can change someone's life from terrible to amazing

Sometimes I feel as if I can’t go on.

My life is like a dark tunnel with no bright light at the end.

I want to fly away into a place with no responsibilities.

When a stupendous star appears in the majestic black sky I always wish for the gift of flight.

 

Dreams of flying over forests full of foliage and gigantic rushing waterfalls

Always fill my mind as I sleep.

I dream of birds of different species, flying and laughing with me.

I dream of watching the leaves of tree’s dancing delicately to the wind’s gentle breeze.

When I wake up I feel as if all my happiness has been taken away from me.

Vulnerability and sadness are all I am left with.

 

Soon, I meet a friend who can solve my problems.

My friend understands me.

She makes me feel as if I truly matter in this world.

For the first time, I am wanted.

 

Every day I smile.

Everything about my life has gotten better.

 

I realize that having wings is not meant to be,

But I have something that brings my dreams of having wings to life.

A true friend.

Awesome! I actually had many lucid dreams (look it up) of flying during my younger days and it was fantastic. It was during a time of realization and growth in my life. I liked your descriptive words. Thanks for sharing!
