Fairy Tales

Fairy Tales

A Poem by Aaron

I remember my mom reading aloud stories
Of wicked step mothers and fairy god mothers
From princess diaries to princess worries
And stock phrases such as "once upon a time" and "happily ever after"
Every story filled with thrill and laughter

From Cinderella and Snow white and the 7 dwarfs
To Prince Charming and his Horse
Fairyland and under ocean world
Were somethings I believed to exist
As they were stories I could not resist

Rapunzel's hair and Ariel's friend
Was something I wanted from them
"Mirror Mirror on the wall..." is one thing I still shout
Cause even I want animal friends with whom I can hangout
As I remember my mom reading these stories aloud

Beautiful way to memorialize one of the most universally adored aspects of any good mom -- reading those stories & fairy tales! To be honest, such fantasy characters have really become a part of our childhood culture here, with young ladies dressing up in princess attire & dying to meet these "stars" at the various Disney parks. My mom worked long hours & there were 9 kids, so I missed out on all the details you paint in your poem -- plus I never had kids, so I didn't learn these stories that way either. So I love getting a slice of life that I never got to experience! (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

A charming poem to match the charming memories of your childhood days and time spent with your mum reading stories. Nicely conveyed. Thank you
