God's Precious Gift (Written For A Mother)

God's Precious Gift (Written For A Mother)

A Poem by Alexander Cain

She pushed for five hours to see London’s shining face,

and when her daughter finally arrived her heart was filled with grace.

The pressure of pregnancy would constantly stress her out,

but when she held her in her arms the rain of worry became a drought.

The river of joy flooded into her heart

as she reveled over god’s precious work of art.

Now they are separated because she wanted to be wild,

but no human confinement can truly separate a mother and her child.

She prays to be the best mother she can be,

but if she shall fail she hopes her daughter lay forgiveness on her.
