So Long Eighteen

So Long Eighteen

A Poem by papermush08
"

Dear 18, see you in memory

"
Life was a race
And there's love I did chase
Here's to next chapter
Got to grip the rope tighter
But in a blink of an eye
Some moments couldn't just die
In retrospect of this journey
The eighteenth version of me
I lived and breathed alone
A silver lining have shown
Though sunshine wasn't always a promise
At least I had hopes to kiss
I learned to terminate what cannot last
Accepted what vanished that fast
I slept without a dark room
Haunted tears weren't there to doom
I left the empty corner where I shattered
Moved forward even if I faltered
Heart kept losing vigor
Yet I stood like the best warrior
I lost, I won, I shared my victory
I was shamed, I was praised,I offered my glory
I won't run, I won't lag behind
One step at a time and I can unwind
Now there's a new portal I see
Dear eighteenth, see you in my memory

Happy 19th birthday then. LOL
It's how I read your poem, PM.
All memories can't be erased anymore. They will be like ghosts trying to haunt us anytime. But when we have accepted that it's what we call as life, then probably, we can just smile at those ghosts.
Well-penned vent. Keep going.
