Monster.

Monster.

A Poem by Angeliki Largatzis

These chains that bind me
They break into my skin
And unravel its filth -
Of every last disappointment
And pained grimaces I'd witnessed
Upon faces of my past.

My sufferable pleas do not quieten
But you are there,
And you look at me -
The devil behind his mask.

I crawl on a tightrope
Clinging on -
In fear I might fall,
Thus, you will take me away -
To a place where the light
May never kiss my skin again.

These shadows entrap me
They feed on my filth
And unravel its depth -
Of happy moments
And cherished love I'd experienced
Beneath the wounds of my past.

I grovel before you,
Upon the rubble of my broken defense
And I plea -
That you remove your mask,
And that you love me
For the monster that I am.
