The Music of Life

The Music of Life

A Poem by Melissa

It seems that music sustains me,
As if without it I wouldn't be.
Its beat is my pulse,
And not to say that would be false.

To me this music is very dear,
If it didn't exist, I might not be here.
This is the power of the music of life,
Without it, my only friend might be a cold steel knife.

I love this music with all my heart,
And to it, I wish not to depart.
But soon I must,
And for it, I'm sure I will feel only lust.

The music of life has many a unique rhythm,
And I want to dance with them.
Life would be pointless without it,
We would end up living in a hellish pit.
